Default Sea Duck/Scoters

Went out duck hunting with a guide today with a bunch of guys from my church. We all limted out, and got 3 bluebills, a few buffleheads, a goose, and all the rest were surf scoters. I was told not to eat them. And we bascially chucked them. I doubt I will go back and shoot if you can't eat em. They did smell very fishy when I tried to clean one.

Jerky

If you want roasting birds you want puddlers,, or canvasbacks and redheads in the diver group.

I like mallards, teal, cans, and bluebills, just hate wasting birds.

Thats same reason I dont shoot buffies, goldeneyes, or ganzers.

Isnt there a big concentration of snowgeese in that area?

Holy cow, I bet I saw littlerly 10,000 on my way back yesterday eating farms down to the ground. I go snow goose hunting on Monday. I dread putting out those socks however. But we can kill 15.

Now, like buffleheads however

So here are the ducks I have seen and hunted in the past few years

mallards
buffleheads, (I hunt alot of these)
canvasbacks
blackduck
pintails
Bluebills (this is mostly what I have hunted)
woodies
oldsquaws as of yesterday
blue and green teal (hunt these in the early season)

Which ones are good eating? I know teal ain't bad, and bluebills are good.
