Does anyone have a Boykin Spaniel for waterfowl? I am looking into gettinga good retriever and would like some information on this breed. If anyone can let me know anything about Boykins, Training, how they deal with ducks and geese beign that they area smaller breed, temperment, hyperactivity,The good ,the bad, and the ugly.

Thanks,

I hunted several times with a guy that has 1 .
It did OK on ducks , I agree it is a little small
It had some problems in the water weeds , but it made up for it's size in shear will power.
Thick cattails stoped it cold , where my lab swam / worked right thru them

It tryed to retreive a goose .
I had to send my lab out to fetch the goose .
The Boykin hung on .
So my lab retreived both of them

Two good friends have them.

Great on just about anything.

One fellas dog retrieved a swan two seasons ago (water retrieve). Quite a site to behold from the pictures he got! Dog did fine til it got to the shore!

What is good about them is they are pretty chill, well behaved, and relatively small. So they don't go knocking into everyone and everything in the blind.
