DONT BUY CALLS WITHOUT TRYING THEM FIRST!!! Go to some sportinggood stores and try them out. Blow some of your buddys calls see if you like the way they sound. Don't buy a call because someone else says it's the best sounding call for the money.

for the record I blow an h.s. black ice for ducks it's nice and quiet for swamps and small potholes.
For geese I blow a foiles strait meat honker

I agree everyone calls different and you should find a call that fits you best.

As for me I have a yentzen wooden call- great for soft calls
A Quackhead J frame- cheap and very loud with a good tone.
Foiles Straight Meat Timber Rattler- My all around call and by far my favorite.
And don't forget a wistle for the drake call as wells as pinners, and teal
