What are my odds on getting my crane when I am in Manitoba this fall?? Also will I need to specifically target them??? I want one and I want it to be banded!!!

Sure glad I don't hunt with guys with such lofty goals. It all depends on the weather, and how much time you want to dedicate to cranes. And that is only for any crane, much less a banded one. There are lots in the area earlier in the year, but may mostly be gone by oct. if the weather isugly. Andy
I have hunted Sandhills specifically a few times(a few years ago). We used pits and decoys and were quite successful. We`ve also tried "spot and stock" too but they have very sharp eyes. Sometimes we harvest them while duck hunting in the marsh. They are an early season bird and are usually gone after the first cold snap. There`s also something about hunting a 4ft tall bird.
Adam, when will you be in Manitoba, flying in, staying? Maybe we can get together for a hunt while you are here.
