Default Would you pay $30-$40 for non toxic shells???

The New Remingtons are about $36 a box with the new Winchester and Federals being $30 a box. These boxes only have 10 shells per box. Would you pay that much and how long would you pay it for? I didn't like spending $20 a box for hevi shot, but I always bought a few boxes. At $30+ a box I will not be using any of the new stuff this year. I will stick with Hevi shot and steel. I can't see the new stuff selling as well as the original hevi shot.

What is everyones opinion?[/align]

I wish I could get Hevi Shot for $20 a box, they cheapest place in Canada I found is still close to $40. This is bad for my dad because he has a beautiful old Winchester 97, but barrels are hard to find for it, and he doesn't wanna wreck the barrel using steel (and it has a full choke). The cheapest non-tox stuff I've found is $30 on sale from SIR. [&:]

I will not usually pay more than $20 a box, but I reload my own stuff 99.9% of the time!!

i wouldn't pay that much because you can buy other manufactures at half the cost if you buy out of season. but these shells are well worth their money. their knock-down power is double that of steel.

I would never pay the price they are asking for the new heavy shot. If I can't call them in close enough to kill with steel I just won't shoot.

i've had good results with the 1550 fps factory steel. it costs me around $11~$12 a box. that's about 40 cents a shell. i'm not switching. besides, i've gotten use to the required "LEED" with the fast stuff.

I don't really think its necessary ... we do reload our own bismuth, but that original hevi shot is pretty good stuff IMO. $30 a box for 10 shells?I can't believe that, thats $3.00 a shot. Thats getting to the point where if you do miss a bird, you might feel worse about wasting the $3 than missing the bird. I've always liked Kent Fasteel, and I think I'll stick to that.

He sure don't want to shoot hevi or the like in it. Kent T/M would be what he needs. Shoots just like lead and is safe for all nitro proof guns.

you know it all depends on what your shooting i shoot plenty of ducks with a number 2 shot 3in... but when it comes to geese and other bigger waterfowl you get what you pay for it is 34.00 a box for winchester BB BBB. but it will take down a cow.
