Default Chesapeake sea ducks

Hey fowl-folks,
I'm going to be in Norfolk in late Oct.(22-27) Typically, how's the sea duck at time of year? I know every year is different, but I'm just trying to get a feel ofthings.

not an expert, but i think that may be a little early for them... And you should check the seasons too...

I was planning on going with an outfitter, probably somewhere out of MD.
We'll trade e-mails, and maybe set up a fun shoot.

I live in Virginia, have never been duck hunting but have always wanted to try it. If any of you guys find some info on it for the Eastern Shore, shoot me a b-mail, I'm trying to find a good outfitter, or someone who has the setup and goes on public land.

It's way to early for sea ducks especially on the Chessy. Besides IMHO unless it's a exceptionally cold winter you'll be shooting scooters and little else for the most part.
IMHO the best seaduck hunting is from Rhode Island & north, with Maine being the best with Mass a close second. For me I consider eider and old squaw seaducks and look at scooters like coot.

I'll be up in Maine this fall but way too early for sea ducks there. Maybe I could make the special January trip for it, though!

How do sea ducks taste, anyway?
