Default went for the first time - need advice

I went duck hunting for the first time - over the weekend.
I shot a surf scooter and I think an oldsquaw. It is a lot of fun!

I am in MD. I went out on boat.

I used a Mossberg 500 with a 28 inch barrel - modified choke. I shot 3" inch 1 3/8 oz. I had #2 shot and #1 shot.

I am thinking about getting a semi-automatic.

I need to get some gear. The weather was decent. On land it was 40 degrees in the morning and it got to almost 60 around noon.It sounds like I was lucky with the weather. I want to be prepared if it gets brutal.

I have never worn bibs but would consider them if it is highly recommended.

I will be hunting from a boat and probably a blind.
I do not have great legs so I probably will not hunt where I need to use waders.

I think I can really get into this. I am thinking about getting a new shotgun and some good clothing

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

Herters has some nice Bibs for a reasonible price Shadow grass style

If i am going to buy a new gun i will buy a banelli auto loader once again shadow grass camo pattern

I use 3 inch heavy shot for ammo so shot size # 4 works good for me

Just make sure you are prepaired for all kinds of weather a normally good day can be spoiled by going unprepaired.

Shoot a gun you shoot well....

Bibs and coat dry plus works well, but warm waterproof stuff is the most important!

Just dress accordingly and do what feels right!

I like the Benelli Nova for a reasonable priced new shotgun.. and always remember that if you have too many clothes on, you can take them off, but if you don't have enough, you're just kind of s.o.l.
