Default Newbie, getting started

Hey Guys,
I have actually been on the forum for a little while, but have stayed mostly in the Deer Hunting area. I have been out duck hunting with my best friend and his father probably 9-10 times, mostly when I was younger (20yr now). My friend and I gravitated toward deer hunting once we got our driver's liscenses though because we didn't need to worry about parents schedules. Now, with deer hunting season over, we are both looking to get back into Duck Hunting, and hopefully figure it out so we can go on our own time. We are both experienced on the water, however, sea duck hunting out in Maine in December probably isn't at the top of our parents lists. I was wondering, how do you go about finding areas to hunt, (sea ducks, black ducks, puddle ducks)? Is there some type of "scouting" that must be done? And any other information or helpful hints to the sport in general are welcomed! Thanks!

AJA

Default RE: Newbie, getting started

do you know if you have any public w.m.a.'s around your area. although not the best hunting in the world, it is a spot to go and you can usually kill a couple birds a day. im not really familiar with the type of land in maine. but there is alot of sloughs and grain fields around here. if you scout and find a slough or field with birds in it the best thing to do is find out who owns it get permission and hunt it.but you dont want to wear a spot out. try to regulate how much you hunt it so that the birds will come back and you'll be able to hunt them agian. i hope this helps. by the way i love that primos bumper sticker i stuck one on my fourwheeler.
