Our Hunt club is thinking about getting a "real" camera this year. Any thoughts on the HD1000U for videoing deer hunts?
I've used it before. It's basically a small camcorder put in a large frame to resemble a big camera. If I remember right, almost all the controls are on the touchscreen. I haven't used it for hunting, but I personally would take an XL2 over it.

I haven't personally used any of the big cameras out there.. I do use a Panasonic and will always prefer the panasonics over any camera out there.. We tested a pile of cameras and brands at work. They were exposed to steam and dust and just about anything in between. Most cameras died with in a couple of months. The only ones that stood up was the Panasonic so if I was to purchase a large video camera it would only be the Panasonics that I would choose from..
It's an inexpensive camera to get into HD, but the Canon HV20/30/40 will get you into HD for half the price. The problem with the little cameras is usually the sound stinks.
