When I hunt from the ground I carry a backpack with my camera, tripod, tapes, battery, and other equipment with me... I also may take a ground blind if someone is going to film me...
When I hunt from a tree stand I carry in a tree arm strapped onto my backpack with the camera and tie a rope to the backpack. Then I just pull everything up and start filming. The key to filming a hunt is always bring the camera! You can't record a hunt if you don't bring your camera....
Just what 8pt said, I like to use the older 8mm with the flip out screen, you can find them on ebay for cheap the last one I got was only $25.00. I have 4 of them now, I droped one out of the tree last year and broke it so at $25 to $50 no big deal. The model numbers I look at are Sony CCD-TRV11, TRV-12, TRV-21, TRV-22, TRV-33, they are take the same battery. When I started in the early 90's I would tape everything, if I was not going to shoot I would take the camera off the tree pod and use my hands, now I just tape my kills and any nice bucks (in or out of range)Just like 8pt said always take your camera sometimes it's a pain in the A but when you get that kill shot on camera or video of a monster it's worth it.
Filming yourself can be a real pain, but in the end it is all worth it. I just got into filming this year. Got my buddies first deer harvest with a bow and man what fun.

I took someone out with me this past weekend on a duck hunt here in South Florida to video. He was a real novice with the camera and I need to upgrade my older MiniDV JVC camcorder but its easy to edit with my macbook/imovie. If you want quick easy videos, I recommend the flip video camera. I use it as well and you can edit both using their software as well as with imovie. for example of both check out these sites
