Until you have the dough to buy a good quality tree arm to use, at least go buy an inexpensive monopod and mount the camera to that and film. You will get steady footage and have the ability to move around with the camera as necessary, the only down side is you can't take your hands off the camera to rest like you could with a tree arm, also your hands are on the camera for the impact which usually the cameraman always jumps at the shot some and you get shaky impact footage, whereas with a tree arm you can communicate and when the shot is ready to happen you can take your hands off the handle to let the camera ride free for no jump! [8D]
