Default $450-$600 range

With a week or so to go before turkey season I don't have much time left to buy a good camcorder. I am looking to spend between $400 and $600. I also plan to use this during deer season as well. I do plan to take some still pics off of it as well as tinkering with editing to make my own videos. What advicedo youguys havein regards to memory, zoom, battery, megapixels, brandnameect.. basically the best all around camera for the outdoorsman with my budget would be great;-)

i have a panisonic it has 30 optical zoom which i like it also has a very handy manual focus which is great for in the woods the better models have decent pictures. Panasonic PV-GS39 MiniDV Camcorder with 30x Optical Zoom: Camera & Photo. but it is only like 300 dollars so you could get a better 1
