Default Winchester Super X3 Waterfowl

So, I want to get the take from Upland hunters. I'm buying a new shotgun. I can't afford multiple guns to accommodate my different hunting needs (Duck, Geese, Pheasant, Grouse, Turkey, Trap). I was going to pick one gun that would fit every aspect of hunting I do. So, if I were to buy the Winchester Super X3 Waterfowl, is there anything that I should consider before buying this gun?

Thanks!
Brad

Before buying this check your state hunting laws first.. Here a semi can only hold a maximum of 5 rounds for hunting with the exception of waterfowl which is limited to 3 rounds at anytime. If that shotgun holds 12 rounds it would be worthless as a hunting gun in this state..

Default gun

I really would not worry that much about the number of shells it can hold, because the gun will probably come with a plug, if not you can pick one up really cheap. I am also assumeing you are looking at the Super X3 all purpose field, so it will not hold 12 shells anyhow.

2 years ago I bought a Browning Silver Hunter, I love the gun and wish now I would have bought the camo coated version so I could use it to hunt duck, geese, and turkey also. You might check it out, a guy I work with just bought one on Gunbroker for less that $1000

The SX-3 is a very nice gun. I have one and it shoots very nice. I have had one problem with the gun when shooting 2 3/4" shells; namely it jams up. I've been told that I can buy a different piston for the gun that will transfer more energy from the shell to the action, but it didn't bother me enough to do it. It might be something you would want to look into if you plan on using the gun for waterfowl and upland game.

The other problem I've seen happened to a buddy of mine. He bought the gun and took it directly to the range to try out BEFORE CLEANING the gun. After a half a box of shells the gun jammed up. It took him a few weeks to get all the gummed up grease worked out of the gun, but once he did; he hasn't had a problem since.

For the money, I think it's tough to get better than the SX-3.

Good luck

The Winchester Super X3 Field has an excellent action and is a delight to use, to be honest I've only put six shots through mine to date but already I'm glad I made what I perceived to be a risky purchase. The only other semi-auto I've used and can compare it to is the Benelli Montefeltro Comfort which is also a very very nice gun. Despite the Winchester being cheaper and simpler I would still take it over the Benelli. Also, the balance and weight feels much more 'right' than any Beretta I've ha ..

Glad everyone likes that gun, would it take on a bear or something similar?

I've got the all purpose SX3 & I love it! Best shotgun I've owned - fits me to a T. I've even shot dove loads with it, no problems ejecting. Highly recommend it.

I've heard good things about the SX3, but I agree with Sheridan. If you haven't picked up and handle some of the other great semi-autos you should at least take a look at them. I handled most of them numerous times before buying the one I have now. However, if you've done this and the SX3 feels right buy it and you shouldn't be disappointed.
