Depends upon what you like to shoot, over-under, sidexside, pump or auto. Then pick the best gun your expenses will allow but make sure the gun fits you or you'll be missing alot.
I also have to agree, if you're on a budget, Rem 870 in 12 or 20 ga. Imp/Mod...You can also shoot rifled slugs.Later on you can purchase a rifled barrel to shoot sabots.

I have an AyA side by side and in the 60's had a Beretta o/uSilver Snipe,but used a Winchester Mod.12 20ga Modifiedfor Quail, Turkey, Rabbits and Squirrel for 17+ yrs. Also have 1966 FNBrowning A-5 12ga.

With the 20" barrel it worked like acharmed!........Of the ones I mentioned, the only one I don't have is the Beretta Silver Snipe.. The Win Mod.12 I received as a birthday gift from my father in 1951 for my 12th B-Day.
