Default Any luck in Kansas??UPDATE

I wasn't able to get back to Kansas for opening weekend of pheasant season. I was wondering if anybody went hunting this weekend and what kind of luck did you have? What parts were you hunting? I am going back next weekend to hunt northern Kansas.

I haven't got to hunt much since I was working at a hunting lodge, butI have seen a TON of pheasants from the combine when I was cutting milo this year. I think you will be able to find a lot of birds when you come.
Where are you going to hunt?? I am in North Central Kansas.

I am hunting north central Kansas. My parents and grand parents own land that I hunt. I moved to colorado 5 years ago but I always go back to hunt pheasant, quail and whitetail.

Small world huh. Thanks for the info. I am hoping to have a good hunt. My parents said the birds have really been cackling in the morings and evenings. I am just hoping for rain, snow or cooler weather.

Default RE: Any luck in Kansas??UPDATE

Just wanted to update my pheasant hunt this last weekend. We had 6 guys hunting and ended up with 14 pheasants, 7 quail. Did see a lot of birds so I feel like the count was up quite a bit compared to what the kdwp had posted. The only problem was our shooting wasn't up. Missed too many birds but had fun. I think my Brittany is going to sleep for the next couple days, she is worn out!!

I was out for opening day, and we did very well. Hunted west of Hays, and did the drive/block thing the first 2 days.......then hunted south of Hays for three days, 2-5 of us with a dog. I usually don't go out till the second week because of the quail opener but thought I would try the opening day for the first time in a few years.........it was worth it, we got into a lot of birds. Of course I hunted with local guys, and that really helps. I will be going out again in January and spending time in Washington...........good friend is from there, and I have been going out there for 20 years or so.
