Default What barrel length swings best for you?

Compared to pistols and rifles, I have used shotguns much less. Now, I noticed long ago that compared to daddy biscuit's old duck gun, the Remington Model 870 riot gun did not swing worth a dingdong! But for those of you that shoot the fast movers, what barrel length do you find the best?

Happy Easter, guys!

I have always liked the 28" for Quail & Doves......30" for Ducks and 24" for Turkeys.

My skeet gun is a Browning Citori w/ 26 in barrels. I love the fit, feel and swing of that gun. My 870 has a 21 inch barrel with an extended tube for turkey, but I also shoot this gun in the area I duck hunt in with a skeet choke in it. Its amazing how well this patterns out to 35 yards with Kent Steel in 3 in # 2's. My 835 has a 24 in barrel and I use that for turkeys, with an Undertaker choke tube which only gives it about another 1/2 inch, but I also shoot this with a modified tube over decoys for geese with Kent 3 1/2 inch BB. For me, the shorter the barrel, generally the fasterI swing it. My advice would be to find someone who has whatever you are interested in buying, and shoot a round of skeet with it. Skeet will represent most of your shots in the field and give you some idea as to how it will swing for you.

For upland, 26" for this guy. Ducks, I would move up to a 28" or 30" barrel.

I use a 26 inch barrel on Both my Browning Gold Hunter and My Browning Pump Shotgun and my Remington 870 Super Mag.

I might miss emwith the first shot, but I get them with the second!
