Iowa Public

I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I'm going to Iowa the second weekend of December for some Pheasant. I was wondering if someone could help me out with some public land and where to go. I would really appreciate it. I have never hunted Iowa so it's a little hard.

With being not sure of the part of Iowa you will be in I can give you a few spots. Chichaqua Marsh is a large area near Des Moines, Otter Creek is by Marshalltown, Ventura Marsh & Rice Lake by Clear Lake. There is also the Iowa Sportsmans Atlas which can be purchased at almost any Wal-mart store. It has maps for all Iowa public hunting, a great resource for an out of state hunter. well in indiainla there is a place called mckeys just ask around and when u find it there is a public part where i and my friend spooked up 35-45 roosters

Go to the Iowa DNR site. It lists all the public areas. You should have no trouble finding someplace to go.

If i was you i would head to South Dakota in NE iowa i will hunt hard all season and be lucky to kill 20 thats between me and 3 other guys

Where is this in Indianola? I'm going to school in Des Moines and I'm desparate for a place to find some roosters! Too late for this year, but would be great to know for next fall!
