It may have been that little guys first dove, but the look on his face says he's done it a hundred times. That's an awesome picture, thanks for sharing.
Icetrey: You might want to review your post. The daily bag limit for doves is 12 and the possession limit is 24. If I read the regulations right, the largest number of doves you and your dad could have legally shot over a three day weekend is 72, and the largest number you could legally possess at one time is only 48. 108 is quite a few above and beyond what was legal.
No wonder we didn't see any when we were hunting in Navasota last weekend...
I live in Houston. I've got a friend whose family owns some ranch land near Navasota, off of 105, I think. We weren't seeing any doves, so we wound up doing some bass fishing in a few of their tanks.
I don't want to come off as some old jerk giving a lecture, but, there are limits established for a reason. What would happen if everyone went out and shot more than double the legal limit. It wouldn't take long until Mourning Doves and Whitewings would suffer the same fate as the passenger pigeon. It's not "all good." It's poaching. It's stealing from fellow hunters. It's lousy game management. It's illegal, and could get your hunting license revoked. It's "all bad."
