Default Need some birds -- what to get?

Need to get my Visla on some birds both for gunshy and to steady up on point. Found a place to order from but just wondering if I should get a fast maturing bird or a bird that he will most often hunt; i.e. coturnix quail vs. pheasant. If I get the pheasant, how mature should they be before I train with them? thanks!

I remember coturnix quail or ***anese quail were quite small, approximately half the size of california valley quail. Butthey flew like crazy. They flew low and zig zag like mad. They werea challenge to shoot.

But if your trying to make your dog bird crazy, any type of game bird is good but for a young dog, smaller is better. Alot of people perfer pigeons because they are very smelly.
