How to field dress a dove

I'll be hunting dove here in VA this Saturday, but I don't know how to field dress one for the table. Any advice or information you can provide is much appreciated!

most folks i know just breast them.put your thumb behind the breastbone and pull away from the bird and cut the wings off with shears. I pick my doves and then cut open the back and gut them. I'msure the people you'll be hunting with will give you some pointers.

Thanks, kweber. I'll take this to the field. I won't be hunting with anyone else, so I'll need it!

I do the same with doves....breast them out by pulling behind the breast bone.

Same here. It is very fast, easy and gives the most meat in the shortest amount of time. I haven't had a chance to dove hunt this season yet because of work constraints but I can almost taste the dove casserole now that you mention it.

Ditto on breasting, no point keeping anything else.
