I got my final bird yesterday afternoon, he had a 11 1/4 beard with 1 1/8'' spurs and weighed 17.5 pounds. This time of year in south mississippi the birds have really lost alot of weight. His breast had scabs on it from all the breading he had been doing. I had hunted him for the past three weekends and finally ended up killing him not 75 yards from the front steps of our camp. I had to wait for him to get out of line with the camp to keep from shooting the trucks and the windows out of the camp. It's amazing how smart they are and then be dumb enough to come up to the camp yard.
Outstanding job. Must be nice to fill out your tags. I had the chance to get two birds down here but failed to draw them in. Scored up in Alabama, on a big bad boy. Said before and will again, "those Bama birds have alot of pride".
Had the tickets for 10 birds this year but, work, hunting pressure and time got me.
