Default Nice Tom Shot Out From Under Me

I went this morning.

I was in the woods and heard gobbling.

So I set up and started calling.

It kinda sounded like he was going away.

Then it sounded like he was coming closer.

I called lightly.

Then all of a sudden Boom then a couple seconds later Boom Boom.[:'(]

Then it got quiet.

No more gobble.[:@]

Then about 30 minutes a guy comes walking out with a nice gobbler.

It seems he was between the gobbler and me.

Public Land Jeesh

I heard him fly down.

Of all things to happen.

I will have to try again.

Well maybe next time.

Wish I had some private land to hunt.

Dude, I had this happen to me along time ago. I had this bird all scouted out! I set up, called,he called back, then BOOM! I found out later from my barber, that the bird was 24 lbs, and had 11" beard. It happens man. But you know what, that why it's called HUNTING.......... You have another oppurtunity to go and enjoy a day in the woods. It doesn't get any better than that.

last year on the last day of the season, me and my two buddies set up a strategy to get a gobbler that was staying in our area. Would have worked too except for the two hunters we saw that ended up slipping in between the three of us and getting the gobbler that we called in.

We heard a big boom and wings flapping on the ground so we knew they got him.

Public land can suck that way!!! We were not happy but what can ya do!!!

If you hunt public land long enough it is most likley going to happen, just gotta keep going. I have had it happen on private land before.

it's not an issue of Public land... it's an issue of ethics. and that other hunter displayed NONE, IF you started working the bird 1st. THAT'S the trouble with our sport today... NO ETHICS.

I don't think he knew I was there.
So he didn't do it on purpose.

When he came out he said he was sorry if he messed me up my hunting set up.
He said he didn't know I was there.
And I know he didn't know about the scouting I had done to pick that spot.

He just went to the spot out of blind luck.
You know how you just get lucky some times.
I do think there was two gobbling and I think he got the small one.

Because the bigger turkey probbly used the
Smaller turkey to go see what the sound was
While he was watching.

So when I get rested up I will be back.

And try it again.

I can't recover from walking a lot like I used to lol ( Getting Older )

But I will keep going till I get one.

If its an accidental thing, eh, it just happens. But if someone hears you calling and the bird and cuts you off, they are a low life scumbag.

I've been turkey hunting for over 20 years.... I say they are RARELY accidental. If you're close enough to hear the gobbler AND his shotgun blast, then chances are REAL good that he heard you calling. Experience tells me that.
