Default Season over before it started

Sorry Team 7, my season starts tomorrow, but ended for me before it started. See, on Thursday, my family and I were on our way to work/daycare at 6:20AM when some young punk who was high on several drugs decided he wanted to play chicken with his car and on coming traffic. He narrowly missed several cars, but when we popped over a hill, he was 4 tires in our lane. My wife was driving and swerved to miss him, but the punk swerved to hit us. He hit us not quite head-on. My wife suffered a lacerated spleen and a messed up neck, my 3 year old daughter suffered a head injury and had to be medivac'd 80 miles north to a childrens hospital, I suffered a chipped spine and bruised ribs. My other two children made it out ok physically, but are struggling mentally. See, they saw thir mommy hurt, their baby sister suffer convulsions, and their daddy on a backboard/neckbrace. Not an easy thing for a kid to get over. We've all been released from the hospital, but our lives will never be the same, and despite all the scouting I did, all the shooting I did with my bow, I'll be home tomorrow on the opener. I hate to say it, but I'm very bitter right now because it was so avoidable. One young punk could have killed us all.

The good news is I've shown what little bit I know to Lefty26 and RickC, so instead of losing a hunter, the turkey nation has picked up two new ones. The fire is strong in these two, and I have alot of faith in them.

Good luck to everyone, and a word to those with kids and a wife...hug them and kiss them and tell them you love them because it only takes a second and you may never have another chance to do so.

My families prayers for a speedy recovery for you and your family. Show strength of mind and body to your children. Get on your feet as fast as possible and quickly resume being a father and husband. Your children will quickly forget the whole incident when they see their dad being strong. Accept what happened, heal, move forward and get ready for the fall season. All the best.

That sucks. Some people are just dumb. Hope you all recover completely and dont feel to bad, you'll be back next spring i'm sure. Spending time with your family is more important right now.
