are they in your area,i'm in south al and i've seen several of them over the years.(in different locations).

I've seen several. Passed up one couple years ago. Most have thin beards but I saw two last year together that had about 9 inch beards that were pretty heavy and several years ago while scouting I saw a hen that had a very thick long beard as I have ever seen

My dad shot one a few years ago. When she was gutted, she looked to be full of immature eggs.
he didnt realize til after he got her back to camp it was a hen, but any bearded bird is legal in IL, dunno if its that way in other states.

I think bearded hens are common-place just about everywhere. I hope all of us will pass on them during the spring as they are potentially sitting on or carrying eggs.

They are more common than people think , I read some where its like 10 percent of the population .

On my place, if there's a flock of 40 hen's...3-4 of em will have beard's
