Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default # 6 Steel Shot

I was at Wal-Mart and they had some 12 ga #6 steel shot discounted.

Would this be good for turkeys ?

It's not too small, It's too light. At close range you could probably do one in with it. At long range, you wouldn't get adequate penetration. Lead or heavier metal alloy are the standard.

Flat out NO!!

I tried some 7 & 1/2 steel for ducks swatting while dog training and I might as well tossed my gun at them! Even at 10 yards!![:@]

IMO Don't waster your money.

If I'm not mistaken, #6 Steel is about the same size as #8 Lead, and I wouldn't try to shoot a Turkey with either of them!

If ever a choice, lead or steel, always pick lead.

Steel, quite frankly, sucks. It's a scam to get hunters to pay more money. There's nothing environmental about it, or safe. Just a ploy to bring in more money.

Lead has more knockdown power.

Steel also ricochets off trees, lead doesn't do it as much. Lead is safer, in wooded areas.

#6 steel is almost too light to use on ducks. WAY too light to use on turkeys.
