How is the gun choked? 2¾", 3" or 3½"? If MOD or FULL go with Hevi-Shot® #5 or 6 Shot.

I am gonna guess you have a Mossberg 500, a older one that chanbers 3"ers, and has a mod. choke. Go with #6. Better yet ask if you can use your gramps 870.
