Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default RE: New HUNTER.. need some Suggestions

Gobblers in the fall will make you crazy, if you can get close to a roost tree before light this is when/where they are most vocal, as they fly down they call alot to regroup, make the same sounds you hear them make only a lil louder and sharper, They may come check you outif so keep the calling low when they are in sight. If they move on with no shot offered, move with them and when your close as you can get shoot and run at them try to split the flock in 1/2 hour to 3 hours they'll start calling to regroup. Use the ole hen lost call and the kee-kee run. they'll come
In the spring I never use decoys unless its a jake, never use a hen alone, hard pressured gobblers will come in till they can see the hen decoy and strutt and gobble trying to get the hen to come to them, then they just walk off, unless they see a jake fooling with a hen, then they hafta come in. after a gobbler answers your call when spring hunting, DO NOT OVERCALL, even if he answers every yelp, long as he's gobbleing he's not moving, a couple yelps every 5 min or so is plenty, once he answers you he knows exactly where your at. when he gets close just a cluck very soft at that is all I ever do, if he can't see me raking the leaves with your hand works even better. Hope this helps
