Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default which 3 1/2 inch shotgun to get

I want a good shooting afforedable turkey shotgun that will chamber the 3 1/2 shell. I dont have the money for a browning gold or a 11-87 right now. I was thinking about a pump or a cheaper semi.

I don't believe a cheap semi is the way to go. Tough to beat the 870 Super Mag for a pump. A lot of people dote on the Benelli Nova but I don't care for it.

I'd have to say you cant go wrong with the 870 super mag also!!My dad shoots a Mossberg ulti mag and I've seen it kill a whole lot of gobblers without a problem too though!!!

I have both the Super Mag 870 3 1/2 and the Bakail MP 153 semi auto. Remington is better looking. The Bakail is a friggin killling machine and never jams. Very soft shooting, too. They both are good turkey guns in my book. Either one can be had new for around $300. PS....The Bakail is not the prettiest gun ever, but don't let the looks fool ya. It will knock em dead with the $1k guns.

I'd say the 870 would be a good buy. The mossberg 835 is also a great gun. I myself shoot an 11-87 and love it!!

I have an 870 super mag and love it. A semi is not required for turkey hunting as one shot is all that is needed.

I went to the shop ready to drop 450 or so on a dedicated turkey gun to replace my sears model 10 full choke which had taken it's share of birds but was of course, not cammoed. I had my heart set on the Remmington Supermag (I think it was called). I ended up saving more than a couple hundred bucks and buying the Mossberg uli-mag. I liked it because it was heavier than the Rem and the stock and receiver matched up more nicely. It is somewhat of a cannon but patterns excellently with the stock choke and # 6, 3.5 Winchesters (shot a nice 20 pounder last spring). I picked up a ported tube at Walmart for 5 bucks (was 30) after spring season that I will pattern this weekend for the fall MO season. I would get any of the guns mentioned as they are all good...get the one that fits you best.
