Sat morning I went to a friends farm to hunt turky's ,when I arrived I didn't see any light's on in the house so I decided to go down to a spot in the corner of the bush and setup my groundblind .I drove my truck down to my spot because it would have taken me a half hour to walk ,I got out of my truck and started to get my gear out so that I could setup my blind. When I started to setup the blind All I could hear was a turkey flying off out of the tree right in front of me .Now I'm thinking sh _t now what do I do? then another flew out of another tree and took off deeper into the wood's. At this time it was too late to change my mind so I finished setting up and then I took my truck back up to the top of the hill. When I got back to the top I could see the light's on in my friends house so I drove over to pick him up .He said to me where did you setup ?so I told him what happened ,he laughed and said I wish you had called last night and I'd of told you that that's where they roosted . I had called 3 times but I guess he was in bed sleeping .Anyway's we headed for the ground blind and waited.As daylight rose 8 bird's flew out of the tree's in front of us and landed in the feild ,we called and called again but these bird's had watched me setup and wanted no part of us , I could just imagine these bird's looking down at me setting up and sayingto each other look at his fool trying to trick us DUH [who ever said hunter's were smart anyway's?].The bird's stuck around but never come near us and then gradually walked up the feild and dissappeared into the bush. Talk about busted .Hopefully this coming weekend I'll get up there on Fri night and find out where they roost so that this doesn't happen again. The funny thing is that the weather was raining and cold and the Gobbler's weren't gobbling ,it almost seem's a little too early .We seen 3 group's of bird's here 1 had 2 Tom's and 1 hen ,1 had 1 Tom and 4 hen's and the other had a Jake and 3 hen's .
Hopefully the Tom's are talking this weekend .
Wish me luck and just imagine these birds looking doewn on me while I setup hahaha. It's too funny isn't it ?
