Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Awesome Hunt!!

Well my dad and I traveled to our destination thursday night. Friday morning we headed out to the field and set up our blind in a spot where we felt very confident. We got set up at about 5:30 and I said to him "this is it. I can feel it. You are going to get your first with a bow" We had some jakes gobbling and we were calling to them. He decided that taking a jake with a bow is an accomplishment so he would. We had them coming in and when they got about 50 yards out they spotted our 1/2 strut jake decoy and hightaled it out of there. About an hour or so later he taps me (I was dosing off) and says there they are again. They were about 120 yards out. He got the binocs out and saw they were 3 toms. They walked straight towards our decoy and he shot one. It flew off with the arrow in him but we found it in a creek about an hour and a half later. It was a double beard After not getting anything saturday (I still had a tag left) we went back the the same spot sunday morning. We had toms gobbling all over. I had them gobbling close by with my calling. I could see one at about 80 yards and there was another closer that I couldn't see. They went away but I kept calling every few minutes. Pretty soon 2 toms came in stutting and I let them have it with my Hevishot 3.5" No. 6's at 30 yards. It was an awesome weekend. His weight about 21 lbs and had 1 inch spurs and a 10 inch beard and a 3 1/4 inch beard. Mine weighed 22.5 lbs and had 1 3/8 inch spurs and a 10 1/2 inch beard. I will post pics when I get them developed.
