Default Turkeys and the wind????????

Ok gues heres the scenario..............Here in N.W. CO the wind is on the rise, especially up in the high country where were gonna be (8000+ ft.). What im thinkin is i know the general area where the birds are roosting, feeding and such. Its on a northwest facing slope with variably thick pines and scrub oak. What im thinking is come in down wind from um and sneek up the ridge till we get in REAL close if possible. Close enough that they can here the calls over the wind anyway. Then get setup as quietly as possible and go to work. Anyway its either this or set up up wind and call um to us, bad part of this is the wind keeps me from hearing them till there right on top of us. So lets here what the experts have to say?????

I find them hard to hunt in the wind. Unless you can spot them. Then you have a good chance to sneak up on them. I hunted earlier this year and it was WINDY!!! I only heard one or two gobbles and couldn't seem to find where the were roosted. Here is a question I have. If it is REALLY WINDY like it was then, will the turkeys come down from the trees in the night? The wind was gusting up over 40mph. I would think it would be hard for them to stay in without falling.

find a large open area like a field or a meadow & wait em out. They love to get in open areas when they can't hear as well due to conditions (fear of predators like coyotes & you)

This also has been my experience. One advantage however is that moving upwind negates sound. Use it to your advantage.
