RE: How is the hunting after 10 or 11 oclock?
There are times when hunting mid morning can be more productive than hunting first light. Many times when gobblers hollar off the roost, hen's move in and steal them from you...that's what nature intends...the hen goes to the gobbler...as hunters, we try the opposite but can't compete with the female of the species.....so mid morning when hen's move off after breeding....many gobblers are out looking for hens...this makes them very acceptable....course hunting pressure and calling pressure can shut them down...
This past Saturday, PA's first youth day for spring gobblers we had birds all day hollaring but hen'd up....at 10:45 on my recommendation we headed for a well know strut zone to setup but on my first call we had a lone tom answer...scrambling to setup we shot a 10.25 in 2 yr old out on his own....earlier he might not have been so eager....so don't give up as the morning grows on.
