Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Wow he looks like a dandy for sure! Congratulations! What did that bad boy weigh?

How about a story to go with those great pics?

Seeing those hills makes me wonder if your up around the Waukon area?

Super job.

P. S.

I am impressed by your "little friend" too. Is that a bow kill? [8D]

mondays turkey weighed in at 26.5 lbs 9.5 in beard 1 inch spurs
todays turkey weighed in at 24 lbs 10 in beard and 3/4 inch spurs
i hunt just outside guttenberg
my "little friend" was a 2000 shotgun kill
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is the story. My plan was to take my 12 year old son out and see if we could get him a shot, so I was all set up for him to shoot. His gun is a 20 gauge 870 youth with 2.75 loads, plenty of gun for 20 yds or less. When the alarm went off at 5:15 I got up and got dressed but could not get my son up By now it is 5:40 and starting to get light in the east so out i went and got in the blind about 6:00.Dident here much gobble for awhile but then up the ridge about 400 yards one gobbled still in the tree I called a little bit and he answered right back About 6:30 I heard some commotion in the trees up the ridge and some othe turkeys started to fly down out of the trees so i called again and instantly this bird thundered a double gobble about 100 yards out It dident take long and I could hear him drumming, then i saw the top of his fan about 50 yards out He then stepped out in to the open in all his glory and started down a old skidder trail right towards me only 35 yards out.By then i had the 20 gauge up and waited till he got 15 yards out and took the shot.I checked my watch and it was 6:45 He weighed in at 26 1/2 1 inch spurs and a 9 1/2 inch beard
I LOVE TURKEY HUNTING

Congrats Eric, nice birds! Just curious how you were able to get gun tags for 1st and 2nd season? Were you able to get a landowner tag?
