Default It's showtime tomorrow - Need Advice

I'll be out on youth hunting day tomorrow. I did final scouting this morning. There is a bird that sounds off every morning 35 minutes before sunrise and does not shut up for about an hour. Everytime I have scounted I hear this bird in the same vicinity. I've done my scouting from the top of a steep ridge. The bird I've been hearing is a couple hundred feet downhill. The entire area is forested with few openings. How do I set up on this bird? It always sounds off on its own so I do not see a need for a crow call. What do I do when I hear the first gobble. I start at the top of the ridge on the road and have about a mile of woods between me and the river below. The further in the woods I go, the more downhill it is. Thanks

Does he ever gobble once he's off the limb? If he does, you should have a decent idea of where he wants to go when he leaves the roost. If you know where he wants to go, then get there before he does and set up. Some light calling oughtta do the trick. Too much calling can make him hang on the limb.

Good luck!! Go get him!!

Setup above him about 100 yards away. You need to get in early so he does'nt skyline you. Don't call at all until he gobbles. When you call, call only once and make sure he hears you. After he knows were you are put your calls up and don't call again. Grab you a stick off the ground and scratch the leaves every 2 minutes until he flies down. Once you hear him fly down, get the calls back out and hammer him. Hit him hard with cutts and yelps. Try to do 2 different calls at 1 time(sound like a couple of hens) do this for about a couple of minutes and stop and go back to scratching. Listen for him walking or drumming and be ready!!!
Good luck!!!
