Got him Wedneday morning. Heard nothing off the roost on this cold and windy morning. Heard a gobbler about 100 yards away come into the field and worked him for about 30 mins when some hens drug him off. Went to another property around 9:00 and saw a hen in the road. We did not spook her---but she did ease into the woods. Heard another hen where she had come from yelping in the woods. My partner and I decided to set up right there on the side of the road. We heard a gobbler in the woods about 100 yard to our right. My partner was about 5 yards on my right. The gobbler seemed to be coming---but it was slow. About this time I realized I never chambered a shell. [

] I tried to do it quietly but could not get one to spring out of the magazine (Mossberg 835). [:@] I decided to just be along for the ride. About 5 minutes later I looked to my left, and about 45 yards away, standing on the edge of the road was a long beard looking right at me. We stared at each other for at least 10 minutes when he began to start feeding my way. I could still hear the gobbler my partner was working. I took a chance and decided to try once more to chamber a round---there was a lot of wind. So---CLICK---it chambered!! My gobbler jerked his head up and looked for about 5 seconds and went back to feeding. I eased my gun up and shot him at about 35 to 40 yards.

My partner had no idea there was a gobbler near by--and I know he wanted to shoot me when I was fooling with my gun. Bytheway---his gobbler gobbled when I fired and we ended up working him for another hour and could not get him to come.
