The key is know your area and know your birds! This comes from time in the woods and preseason scouting.I find where the birds are traveling at the last part of the day(great if they are frequenting a field,I can just observe from a distance and watch where they go)If I don't locate any that evening I don't fret over it because I have done my scouting and know some good areas to start in the AM.Get in extra early and listen.Good luck

first you have to know where the birds like to go.the general area, then go and listen for the yelps of the hens.always keep a call that you can cackell with.at last light I like to cackell one time.then wait and listen.
maybe use the gobble box one time and listen.
sometimes they will sound off when they fly up.
Just get in the general area and listen for the wing flap sound.

just go and give it a try.good luck.
