I've read over and over about on this board about the pro's and con's of the NOVA vs. other guns.
One thing I haven't read much about is RECOIL. I'm used to my 3" mag 11-87 auto. It doesn't bother me at all to shoot all day long. I recently acquired a NOVA...yesterday was the first day I've ever shot it. I went to pattern my turkey loads with 3 1/2" mags with Undertaker choke tube. I thought I dislocated my shoulder after the first shot. I had enough after 3 rounds...all I wanted was an ice pack. I'm not a big guy...only 5'10" and about 155 lbs. What can I do about recoil?
My question is this...Is the mercury recoil reducer worth buying? How much does it cost and what percentage of recoil will be taken away.
I too have recently found out what the Nova can do to your shoulder[:@]. I went out and purchased a mercury recoil reducer for $75.00 and installed it. I did not shoot the gun before I put it in but I will tell you that I would hate to try. I then went and bought a limbsaver for $30.00 but I have not shot it again. I have been shooting a SBE for quite a few years and absolutly love it, that is why I bought a Nova. I wanted a gun just for turkey hunting. I will post again after I shoot the gun with the limbsaver which should be this weekend.
i also have a benelli nova 12 ga "my dad got it for me for christmas probably the best christmas present ever'but to the point im only 14 and i was wondering if those ported choke tubes do much for recoil reduction.
i can handle the 3in but i shot a 3 1/2 in and that was the last one of those i shot.i want to use the 3 1/2 in for turkey but i dont want my arm blown off.
