Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Paying the Price

As some of you know our season in Ga. opened on Sat a week ago, the 20th. On the 22nd I got a bird and another on the 24th. This past Friday, the 26th, I called in one for one of my buddies. The bird was coming and I told him to get the gun up, he wouldn't. The bird got clear of the palmettos at about 15 yds, my friend tried to lift the gun and the bird busted him. My buddy killed a palmetto, dead center, never moved again. This was his first turkey hunt and I told him he had just learned his first lesson about turkey hunting.

If you're just learning to turkey hunt, do as others' on this forum have said, get the gun up and be ready.

We set up on another bird and my buddy was so mad with himself he wouldn't take the gun again. I called and the bird slid by us just out of range and I couldn't turn him, probably had a better sounding hen somewhere.

We went back Sat. morning and my friend still would not take the gun, we worked two birds again, and again they kicked my rear. I went back this morning and could get a bird within about 100 yds and no closer. I moved, went silent and waited and waited, for over an hour. Tried everything I know and couldn't get him in. So for those that say they have hunted for years and can't get one in, it happens to us all.

Dog1 , it can be frustrating with the new comers to the sport, and some OLD GUYS too

I had a new turkey hunter last season that passed up 7 different Longbeards at different times all in range. Well I finely sat down with him and talked out the problem so he would understand, well the next day he killed large.

Then ya get guys like Jalvja and Scapper that just let the longbeards walk in and won't shoot [:@] just to get to me. I'm rolling around on the ground ,Beeting the ground with my hands , because they won't KILL IT!
and all they have to say to me is O well that was a Nice bird [:@] I hate it when they do that too me ! Then we setup and Call birds in again , so this time ,I think (I'm going to get them) I Burp out loud The stupid bird walks over 10 feet away and Yelps to me ! [:@] MAN Why ME! []...BT
