Default 7 days in Fla.

Well the is nothin greater than a week off to go after the big Fla. toms !! Thanks to Benhuntin Who lives on the edge of the forest he gave some great advice on how and were to hunt !! With over 500,000 acres Ben was a big help!!!! We had a cold front come in on the first day and the winds were 30 miles an hour could not hear much in the woods that day !!! Day 2 was a little better only 20 mph winds but we saw two gobblers and 4 hens all of coarse when we were in the truck driving down the road. Day 3 was perfect wether but saw no birds!!! It is a very beautiful part of the country and will be going back next season to try my luck again!! I also hunted three days on the Swannee River over near Lake City!! I called 2 toms wirhin 100 yadrs but they were on somebody else land and I DO NOT TRESSPASS!!! Our day 3 of the Swannee hunt was exciting . There is state land across the river from were we hunt and on that morning there was a shot fired from across the river and then a gobbler sounded off right after the shot was fired !!! The gobbler apparently had flown across the river and was now on our land !!!! I tried to get him to come to us for an hour he would gobble at my call but stayed at the far end of our land!! So we decided to move to him!! We moved down to him within 100 yards I THOUGHT!! Right when we sat down i heard foot steps in the leave and sure enough ther he was 70 yards away the Swannee river in the background he was a monster !!! We were busted he saw us and was on the move never saw him again!! It was a great way to end a trip!!! I will be back next year !!! Thanks again to BENHUNTIN for all the great info!!!!

Default RE: 7 days in Fla.

You're very welcome. I was glad to be of help. It was truly great meeting
ya'll. I didnt think it was possible to meet someone more , or at least equally addicted to turkey hunting as I am. The birds were active this week but the cool snap seemed to silence them up quite a bit.
I missed one on Wednesday morning but other than that, it was a fun hunt. Good luck on those Mississippi and Tennessee birds.
