Default Turkey hunting tv shows

I was watching one of those turkey hunting shows on the on the outdoor channel. And man I gota tell ya. Some of those shows are a JOKE!!!!!!! These guys were hunting in Kansas(ON A PETTING ZOO) and they were set up on a field edge. Multible gobblers come walking by and these guys cant decide on witch one to shoot.(I WISH I HAD THAT PROBLEM) Anyhow the birds are just out of range and this guy calls to the gobbler and the bird makes a 180 and comes trotting into there set up. The camera man is moving all around the HUNTER is moving all around the bird is only like 20 yards away and the guy pulls the trigger and he didn' t have a shell in the chamber.(SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!) So he cycles a shell in the chamber while the turkey is 20 yards away mean while the bird manages to get into the woods with them and the two guys turn around and try to kill the bird. The bird sees them and starts to leave but not in much of a hurry. It walks back out into the field and the two guys turn around again and he FINALLY!!!!! kills the bird. After picking up his TROPHY he says " Man now that is turkey hunting"

Give me a brake!!!!! Those guys wouldn' t make a pimple on a turkey hunters as!. I' m noticing more and more hunting shows are like this. I' m getting to the point that I cant even enjoy watching hunting shows anymore.

Hey Mr. Longbeard, I hear you man! I seem to notice it more on whitetail hunting shows more than anything else, hunting on ranches and fenced in game preserves. It don' t come near that easy out in the real world!

My guess is that part of the reason is the growing popularity of turkey hunting.
As it gets more popular, there will be a larger diversity of " ability" amongst those participating in turkey hunting. While one hunter may think he' s a champ, another sees him as a chump.

If he' da said " Man, that was fun!" , okay so be it for him. If his message was, like I think it might' a been; " Man, that' s what real turkey hunting is all about!" ; then the hackles go up. It' s not an issue of right or wrong, but don' t confuse one for the other. Have fun, but call it what it is.

In my mind, this type situation paraded as the " real thing" cheapens the gobblers that many here had to bust our @$$es for, and disrepsects the noble wild turkey too. $.02

i was watching one the other day and was thinking they must slice and diced that film to put together this turkey hunt.typical scenerio,a gobbler in close with the hunters making a incredible amount of movement and carrying a conversation before the shot, they must throw out a deaf and blind bird.one more thing, show the shot,i assume hunters are watching the program and wont be offended.dont get me wrong i will continue to watch any hunting show on tv and enjoy it.i just throw in one of my tapes to watch a realistic hunt.

Guys I most definately agree.Worse than anything else these shows and yes some lousy videos too...have a tendency to fill the woods with lazy, unethical, uneducated,so called turkey hunters ,who turn huntable birds into unhuntable birds!!

its terrible how some of these videos which are supposed to be "Educational" have profanity on them. Alot of them need to realize adults are not the only ones who view these tapes. [&o]

I saw one with "Deer" hunting. They were set up in a tall stand watching over a feeder when the hunter shoots a decent buck.If I was to pay that much money I would wait and shoot a monster.I can't believe people would pay that much money to hunt a ranch and hunt over a feeder.I mean thats not even considered hunting in my book. The guides have all the time in the world to find a good spot and that's all they can come up with.Heck I may as well set up a feeder and charge an arm and a leg to hunt.I realize that not everybody can scout and hunt alot but they should know someone that does and ask them if they know any good spots they don't hunt often.Maybe I'm wrong on this but you won't see me doing it.
