Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Locators can be any call that has some volume other then a turkey call, something that maybe odd sounding in the area. Turkey' s tend to become call shy of locators aswell after hearing the same calls from other hunters, so having a few is a good idea. Owl,crow, goose, coyote howler, gobble shaker are all locators. In the spring of the year ,do to day light hours the Gobblers testosterone levels become high for mating and this makes him resond to sudden load sounds. I like to carry two different sounding Crow calls, as I have found they will anwser one over the other. This is why you hear of Gobblers responding to Horns , car door slams, train whistles. Locators are used more in the spring season and can be a very helpfull tool in my vest...BT

Great reply as usual BT!!One thing I might add here Ace is not only do locators let you know if a gobbler is in the area but also they can give you an idea of which direction he' s headed or not by his responses. This in turn can give you a plan to get in front of him or try and pick the path of least resistance for the bird in having him come into your set-up!Also I might add on this if you have someone with you I always have them stand off some distance in operating a locator so they can hear.Sometimes it can be extremely difficult to hear over your call as your operating it!
