Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Smile Mossberg Turkey 835 ulti-mag

Just saying...
I had more fun with my over/under 12 gauge than my new camo ulti-turkey 835.
This Spring I had several shots out and the first 2 were surprising but tolerable until later! Unless you are or know you are going to be 40+ yards out, there is no need for 3 1/2" shells to dislocate your shoulder.
3" Turkey mag. has done the job forever.

I love all shotgun makers but DAMN? Mossberg needs to put a cushion in that stalk, not all plastic.

I will take my over/under this fall.

Just saying...

Default shoulda

I have a Mossie 500 turkey gun, 2 3/4" -3". Shoots great, recoil isn't that bad. Maybe you should have looked at the 500 instead. I have a Remi 870 super mag that takes 3.5" shells, They kick. I'll stay with the 3" loads in her.

True as I had one, but thought this would be a dual purpose of home defense also. I realize I will be using 3" Turkey loads or quit my whining. LOL.

My buddy let me borrow his Remington 26" 3.5 and it also kicks as bad.
Are there like piston stalks you can install on these? Down the same line as an AR-15??

Currently looking for a weaver mount and truglo for it, just for fun

My Mossberg 500 kicks really hard. I use 3in turkey loads. Ive just got use to it and it doesn't effect me at all.

I have a 1992 vintage 835, camo synthetic, no ported barrel no ported choke.....either suck it up or wear a camo dress and get a 20 guage, it kicks but ain't that bad, have killed a bunch of gobblers with it.

It's about patterning the gun, and having the confidence of shooting within the gun and load range that u know will kill your target.

I just finished up doing a make over on an early 835 I got on trade for some turkey calls, and I've been reading they kick like a mule! I'm not looking forward to sighting it in and testing loads n choke combos, but I can guarantee I'll be using a lead sled. Will also stick to 3" shells.

Oh yeah. At the very least take an old bath towel and fold it up to use as a shoulder pad.

The 3.5" vs 3" turkey load battle has simmered on this site for many years. Do a search for past posts, and read away.

Ultimately, the choice is up to the shooter. If someone needs the "extra" .5" to cleanly take their quarry, then its 3.5" shells. It's their recoil to soak up.
