Default what do you think?

im going to order some friction call making stuff sometime soon i think...i want a good slate call out of it and a good glass call....what is the best sound board? wood? glass? slate? what about glass thickness? single or double pane? what about for the sound board how thick on that if its glass?? im going to turn a few strickers on the lathe at school this year and want to have my own calls i made...im sure i can get close to the expensive call sound alot cheaper and have my calls look how i want if i build them...and i make some sweet sounding strickers by hand..the lathe will just speed the process....any suggestions? thanx alot

Some calls are made with both glass and slate...shop around, I' m sure you will find one to your liking. If you' re going to try to make your own, you can study/copy the designs that are already out there.

Good luck

Default RE: what do you think?

maybe my question is not stated right....im wondering what makes the best sound board in a glass call and in a slate call.....the sound board is actually underneath the slate or glass and gives off vibrations and makes a diffrent sound then one with no soundboard.....i dont know what will give hte best sound a slate soundboard or a glass......and i am wondering should i use double pane glass or single for the surface? and waht about the thickness for hte soundboard if it is glass? i dont feel like paying 100s for a few good friction calls and yet i still think they arent to attractive....i like to make my own things and make them look how i like....a nice picture will go on my glass call sound board and i will finish my pots the way i want....thats why i want to make my own....and it will save me hundreds......thanx alot
