Default new to turkey hunting

I am new to turkey hunting and looking for some advice. I have a mossberg 12 gauge which I use for duck hunting. I am assuming this will be fine to use for turkeys as well. Should I use a choke for turkey hunting or not? What kind/size of ammo shoud I use? Also, how far away can I shoot a turkey and not worry about just wounding it? I know there is always that possibility but I want to reduce that risk. What is the best way to hunt...sit quite in the woods, use a call, use a decoy, stalk? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
