Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Squealing Hen Call

Ok - last year I debated on whether or not to get this call (by HS Strut) but it was brand new and really no one had experience using them out in the field. I'm hoping now that this is the 2nd spring that they've been out - maybe someone has some 1st hand experience with this call. Watching Hunter Specialties, it seems pretty darn convincing that they work...

Do any of you have experience with this call? Watching HS Struts prostaff use it on tv is one thing - but if you guys have used it, I would LOVE to know what you think of it. Thanks!!!

Your asking the wrong questions IMO.

The first question is why would they not show you anything but what appears to be the call working like magic? They are the ones to profit and have to show you they believe it to work.

The second question is has anyone actually heard a live hen squealing like this in the wild?

I've seen hens bred but never heard it. It's one of those bad examples of trying too hard to create the next gadget!

TG ~ HS Strutt and the squealing hen call rates right up there with Drury's Spit and Drum call and now both Mad Calls and HS Strutt are on my Junk list!

I will never ever buy another call from either and I was a HS strut Championship box call user. No more.

As Ontelk told you save your money. You are farther ahead mastering a STD call or two, rather than thinking this call is the end all of all calls and they will come running to be shot!

It is a left handed monkey wrench they tell ya, you gotta have it type hype that is there to only bilk you oughta your hard earned bucks!

I think they are a joke. I forget what magazine published all the known sounds from a wild turkey. And the squealing hen was not one on the list.

One of my buddies bought one. I'm not a fan of it. If a new gadget comes out he has to have it. He thinks he has to buy everything that Primos puts out. I like the old school myself.

Millions of turkeys were slaughtered before these gadgets came out.

Right up there with the gobbler grenade and the cruncher. I'll blow my money on something else...

I've played with one. I'm not sure about it working for turkeys, but I can make a cow elk squeal, or at least something pretty close to it from what I hear on tv.

Could this have been an elk call just rebranded?

I'm glad you guys chimed in - it appears to be a gimmick to me. Of course HS Strut's commercials make it look amazing (But DUH... Why wouldn't they???) I've never heard of anyone "like us" using this call and having success (or failures) - so that's why I wanted to ask!

Thanks for the feedback!!! Interested in hearing more - if anyone wants to add!

I've been hunting for many years and have heard just about every sound a turkey makes, but I have never heard a hen turkey squeal like Eddie does in the video. I wouldn't waste my money. I did hear a hen last year make noises I have never heard. I actually thought it was someone on the neighboring property messing with me. It sounded that bad. I got up to see who it was and lo and behold, it was a real hen. The gobbler I was working seemed to like it though. BTW, I ended up getting the gobbler.
