Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Best turkey ammo for Benelli Nova Pump

Bought one a year ago and never patterned it quite right last year. I have the 26" barrel with a Primos jellyhead choke tube. Currently I have the Winchester Supreme 5 shot 3" shells. i was trying to pattern at 50yds which maybe is a little far. Gonna try again at 30yds soon, but in the meantime, anyone with the same set-up have any recommendations?

Hevi Shot 3"-2oz-#7 or 3"-2oz-#6 should work well for you out of that choke. Of course you could shoot 3.5" in the same configuration or even go to Nitro's.

I shoot the same gun but with the 24 in. barrel. I started shooting the hevi shot last year with good results. It was the blended 3 in. shell. Many other people have great results with 2 oz. 6 shot. Oh yea, I also use the Jellyhead choke tube. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies, I need to start patterning now. I am so afraid I will miss when I have a chance to kill my first turkey, after 2 seasons of nothing.

That's some good advice right there.

Now I will throw this in. I have a Nova too and I have a hasting choke in it. The HeviShots are great, but were a bit salty for me. I used a 3 1/2 #5 Federal and got a great pattern. It will depend on your gun and set up. Get a few different shells for different brands and sizes and pattern at both 20 and 40 minimum and see which does the best. I start with a piece of white poster board and a 3" circle. Shoot and see where it goes, re-adjust and keep it op till you have a tight pattern in the circle.

The only bad thing is most shells are $15 per box. I could spend a hundred bucks to just "try out" different shells. That is why I was trying to limit it to 2 "proven" types by people that use the same gun/choke combo I use.
