Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Scored in Oklahoma

I just got back from my first trip to Oklahoma. Hunted the Black Kettle to get my first Rio. 3 of us killed 5 birds (2 jakes, 3 toms) in 2 1/2 days. The trip was cut short due to a death in the family. If you haven't been to the Black Kettle it is a great place to hunt and get your Rio if your interested. Lots of birds there and we never ran into another hunter while hunting. We did see several driving around. Within 30 minutes of arriving we killed a double on jakes that came in gobbling and strutting only a couple hundred yards from our campsite. After that the winds picked up to 30-50 mph the rest of the trip. It was tough hunting and we never heard another gobbler. But because of the open terrain we were able to pattern some toms and kill 2 more on an ambush setup and the last one on a stalk.
