Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default 535 mossburg with new Indian Creek choke and hevi 3 1/2 in. 2 14oz. multi.

I said I would post my pattern results. At 20 yrds. I had a total of 307 hits in a 10 in. circle. At 40 yrds I had 95 hits in a 10 in. circle. This doubled my hits from the stock set-up. The patterns were both well balanced so I feel this was quite accurate.

curtispa14; Are you saying you shot the Hevi-13 3.5" 2-1/4oz Mag Blend?
If thats what you are stating you should be getting a bit better pattern than that (although what you are getting is adequate).
Are you shooting at a large enough piece of paper to verify point of aim and point of impact are the same?

95 hits in a 10" at 40 yards means that you have a 35 yard gun (to me anyway).

Something ain't right.

I had cardboard that was 3 ft x 3 ft and pattern was well centered. Without the Indian Creek choke or hevi 31/2 mag blend my hits past 30 yrds was sad. This is a great improvement from the old set-up out of the box. Took the targets to our turkey banquet last night (NWTF #1 in Greensburg Pa.) Everyone seemed to think the targets looked good. Maybe they were being nice?

As for being centered the 20 yrd target had a few more hits (37) in the lower left quadrant. But at 40 yrds the quadrants were within a few hits of each other.

I've got the 535 turkey gun with the supplied xfull choke and I'm getting results close to that with lead loads. If it's an improvement from your previous setup that's a good thing, but from what I've read in several posts about those chokes and shells you should be getting better patterns than that. Possibly try a similar shell in a different size shot or try the 3" and you may get better patterns. Dunno. I haven't come up with the money to try what you've done yet, but I'm wanting to. Let us know how you fare if you try any other setups.

Sounds like the pattern board is big enough, and from what you described your pattern is quite even.
As I mentioned before what you are shooting is adequate, but from everything I have shot and seen shot with those loads you should be shooting somewhere around 180-300 in a 10" circle at 40 yards.

Did you measure or use a rangefinder for your 40 yards?
Did you circle the densest portion of your pattern or just where you were aiming at?

Sorry to ask so many questions I just have not seen this before so you have me curious.

Used my range finder but might try the 3 in. maybe will pattern better. I was kind of happy with the new results! Did only shoot one of each shell as I could only afford two boxes ($60.00 for ten shells.) Need some for trip to Tn. April 7th. At least I hope I need them. Four birds plus bonus. I will say I would not miss the kick of the 3 1/2s. Makes my 300 swm feel like a 7mm-08.

Maybe should stick with my bow. It's the only thing I've killed a turkey with and it didn't kick at all! Friends asked me on this gun hunt so i thought I would give it a try.

Could be my mistake as I am making my circle from the center of my X. Not from the center of the densest pattern. I was trying to see were and what my shot placement would give me.
