I would say soon. It will pick up once your weather gets warmer. Spring is coming and it only gets better. I heard a couple gobbles the other morning and Im here in Indiana but its was warmer and the sun was shining bright. But it was only 2 gobbles.

When does the season start? Scouting isn't really crucial until a few weeks before season. Hate to educate the birds.

In our area, 35 days to go til opening. If the snow is 90% gone and it is reasonably warm in the day, grass is happening, they will gobble good. If it's still cold, and a fair bit of snow around still,no grass, one gobble from the tree, and one only. It definitely seems to be weather and food source related.

I don't live in NW Arkansas so I can't directly answer your question. I can tell you, however, that in west Tennessee turkeys will start gobbling occasionally from the roost at daylight starting in the next 10 days if the weather remains as warm as it is today.

Gobblers don't really quit gobbling...Have you ever heard one in the fall during deer season? You will if you hunt long enough...as spring approaches it's like the "turkey rut" Keep your ears tuned in and eyes open for the strutters..Spring is coming fast!
