I have been turkey hunting for a few years now and still can't master the mouth call. Anyone have any tips for me? Also what kinda mouth call is, in your opinion, the easiet, most realistic sounding one??
Well that is an interesting question....The basic answer is yes. As far as a brand and such, that is a personal question as to your mouth size. Since the call fits into the palate of the mouth and seals, you need on that can do that. Also the more reeds on the call the more work you need to do.

I have always been a fan of Primos and HS calls...feel they are the best commercially produced products, but Quaker Boy has a call that is the foam fit line and they sound good and fit tight. PM me if you need some more help.

I use the Quaker Boy foam fit (Old Raspy Hen II) and it fits the best of any I've tried, as far as getting a good tight seal and feeling functional. Although, the noise coming from it leaves MUCH to be desired, just yet, I really like the feel of this call and the sound it makes when I do get it right!!!

Decades ago when I first added diaphragm calls to my turkey call options, I found a single reed by far the easiest to master. As the years have gone by, and I became more confident and more proficient, I moved to the multi-reed designs. I still keep a simple single reed in my stuff ... you just never know what will float a particular Tom's boat. My favorite multi-reed calls are the Woodhaven designs.
i use a mix of primos and hunters specialties... basically whatever is on clearance. i really like the tone trough primos calls they sounds great but imo are kindve hard to purr on so ill keep a standard call in hand. i use the triple bat cut and double double primos calls. the hunters specialties calls include, raspy old hen and the clean double.
It's not the call it's the placement you are having problem with. Get the call back in your pallette , it should be about 1/2 inch away from the fleshy tissue in your throat. You will need to trim the calls tape so you don't gag. Hold the call with the sides of your tongue and allow the air to run down the crease in the middle of your tongue. Drop the back part of your jaw to change the pitch. Double reeds are the best to start with and Quakerboy's Foam fit is a great starter...

One thing I learned over the years is to always keep trying different call from different company's... I use to swear by HS strutt then I switched to Knight & Hale... Now I like Woodhaven...

I am def practicing as much as i can, but it doens't help when my mom hates turkey calls haha... But i have been practicing in my car and when she leaves and def am seeing an improvement
